Abstract

Introduction: Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, a congenital condition affecting 1 in 4,500 female births, is marked by the absence or underdevelopment of the uterus and upper vagina. Vaginal reconstruction is vital for sexual function, with prosthetic stents playing a key role in maintaining neovaginal patency.
Case Presentation: Femal patient with MRKH syndrome were treated using custom-made hollow vaginal stents following the Abbe-McIndoe technique. Stents were fabricated from heat-cure acrylic resin based on MRI measurements, ensuring optimal fit and function. Follow-up confirmed maintained vaginal patency.
Discussion: This case report highlights the critical role of prosthodontists in managing MRKH syndrome. Custom prosthetic stent provided excellent outcomes, though challenges with retention and patient compliance was noted, underscoring the need for continued innovation.
Conclusion: Personalized prosthetic vaginal stents are effective in managing MRKH syndrome, improving patient quality of life. These findings support their use as a standard treatment option.
