Abstract: The success of a dental restoration largely depends on the accuracy of the impression. Impressions serve as negative replicas of the oral structures and must be made with utmost precision to capture fine details. Achieving an accurate impression involves the selection of an appropriate impression material and a technique that is minimally technique-sensitive yet capable of reproducing the required detail. Numerous authors in the literature have evaluated the accuracy of various impression techniques, highlighting their respective advantages and disadvantages. Ongoing research continues to explore the optimal combination of impression materials and techniques to enhance clinical outcomes. This review discusses the different impression techniques used in fixed partial dentures.
